Yuja Tea 유자차
Citrus junos or Yuja in korean is a citrus fruit that has many different uses. It can be made into vinegar or baked into pastry. Yuja has a very strong tart flavour so it has to be calmed with lots of sugar and honey.
The yuja tea I drank was sweetened with both honey and sugar. Traditionally a layer of yuja is put in a jar followed by a layer of sugar/honey and then another layer of yuja and so forth until the jar is full. It is then set aside to mix and mingle for some time. After this stage it is ready to drink. Warm water is added to a spoon or so of the mixture and stirred up until its consistent.
Here is the video to my yuja experience:
I feel that this tea could also be used as a spread on toast as it is quite thick and almost resembles marmalade. You could also bake with this tea and make some delicious cake or muffins.
I would recommend this drink to people who like sweet orange juice or citrus flavours. There was a little tart flavour but it wasn't overpowering and the sweetness was perfect. I would buy this product again :)
