The Villainess Korea Movie Review
The Villainess
Warning:This movie is not for people who don't like blood and gore!
Plot:
The movies plot is about vengeance, betrayal, and revenge. The opening scene has some of the best first person action fighting scenes in any movie I've ever seen. The main character is a Chinese- Korean trained assassin. Her name is Sook-Hee. She is seeking vengeance for the death of her father who was murdered when she was a young girl. She is captured by the Korean secret police and is given an option to work for them and be free in 10 years. Her handler is Chief Kwong.
She initially accepts and decided to become a sleeper cell and raise her daughter (first husband) living a normal life while undertaking secret missions. She eventually marries again and lives a some what normal life that becomes twisted with a few plot twists..
Review:
The Villainess is really interesting and jumps from the past to present and builds the main character's story really well. The action and dialogue go hand and hand which makes the movie more touching. The plot is well written and makes movie watchers think and figure out some twists that are thrown in the mix. The movie has a lot of action scenes with huge amounts of gore comparable to kill bill or old boy. The Korean filming style is a unique and interesting take on film making.
I would recommend this movie for anyone who likes blood and gore. Also for anyone who likes story based movies about revenge and betrayal. The movie holds its own and could possibly be the best action gore movie made in korea since the classic "Old Boy"
