Always Close Your Blinds At Night

     It was a cold dark January night. I had just finished my exercises for the day and was about to have a warm bath. My curtains were closed and the heater was cranked. My wife and children were sleeping in the master bed room. I went to my secondary bedroom to get my new clothes. However the curtain in this room was still tied from earlier. I untied the curtain and closed it. I then proceeded to the bathroom with my supplies closing the rooms door. I ran the water for my bath and relaxed in the warm water for about twenty minutes before drying off. 

     As I exited the bathroom I turned right which lead to my living room/ kitchen area. I had a glass of water and went back past my bathroom into my master bedroom. I got into bed and watched some videos and faded off to sleep. I awoke at two a.m. drenched in sweat as I forgot to turn off the heater. My wife and children were still fast asleep so I went into the living room to turn down the heat. I didn't turn on any lights and proceeded back to my bed. I looked out the curtain and noticed that there was a slight space between the two curtains. Too my shock and horror I seen a man peeking through the slight opening.

     I raced to the window but the man was nothing more than a shadow when I had got to the window. Not wanting to wake my wife or children I closed the space between the curtains and checked the closets in our room to be safe. The closets were empty and nothing was displaced. I then left the master bedroom and turned right to check the bathroom. It was empty with nothing out of the ordinary. I went down the hallway and checked my living room / kitchen area. There was nothing out of the ordinary so I turned off the lights and went back down the hallway.

     I then went to the last room in my place the secondary bedroom. I opened the door and felt a burst of cold air. The window was closed but there was snow in the room and it looked like someone had been in the room. I went to the closet and was surprised to find it empty. I checked the whole room but found nothing. When I checked the window I found the lock was broke and that it was opened. There had been a person in my house and they had escaped without my family and I knowing.

    When the late morning sun came up I checked outside my place and sure enough there was disturbed snow and the window lock would have to be replaced. I made a report with the authorities but nothing was missing so it was more of a scare than anything else. However, I learned one thing and that's to always close your blinds at night.
